March: National Literacy Month
March is National Literacy Month, a month focused on developing children ability and skill for reading. Below we share some tips from Everyday Family on engaging your child in reading, hint many have to do with you!
1. Read together- build time into your daily schedules to read together each day.
2. Play Games- Children love to play games, to increase engagement, turn everyday activities into opportunities to learn and build awareness of letters, sounds and words!
3. Build on what they already like- Find books, stories or characters that your child is already interested in. More than likely, they will find it easier to connect with the stories and they will want to practice reading it again and again.
